Target Buying Price

From the target shelf price to the maximum acceptable invoiced buying price, back margin and promotional funding included.

Items

One row per item. Target shelf price in euros including VAT, current list price in euros excluding VAT and before rebates. Front margin is measured on the invoiced price: (ex-VAT shelf price minus invoiced price) divided by the ex-VAT shelf price, so before back margin and promotional funding. Back margin and promotional funding as a % of the invoiced price, with funding applied to 100% of volume. Volume is optional, in units over the year: it only weights the totals and counts as 1 if left blank. A comma separates thousands. Use a point for decimals, e.g. 1.5.

File

Columns are recognised by their heading, not their position, and case and accents are ignored. Headings in English, German, Spanish and French are accepted. Minimum columns expected: target shelf price, VAT, front margin, current list price. The file is read in the browser, nothing is sent. On import, numbers are read tolerantly (1,234.5 and 1.234,5 are both accepted), because files come from Excel in all kinds of locales; manual entry in the table follows the strict rule of the language.

The exported file is internal preparation material. It is not meant to travel as far as the supplier.

Regulatory check not performed

This tool does not check the increased resale-at-a-loss threshold, nor the caps on promotions in value and in volume that apply to food products. The regulatory framework still has to be confirmed and it changes over time, so none of it is coded. The ceiling calculated is a negotiation ceiling, not a legal price.

What this calculation does not say
1. The ceiling ignores the retailer's weight with this supplier and where the negotiation sits in the calendar. Its commercial realism is judged elsewhere.
2. Back margin is counted as earned. A rebate tier missed at year end removes it retrospectively, when the shelf price it funded has already been trading all year.
3. Shrink, unknown loss, returns and logistics costs stay outside the calculation. On fresh categories, the gap to realised margin is material.
4. The import runs no consistency check across rows. Two items from the same range can demand contradictory concessions from the same supplier.
