KVI Potential Score

Scores a category's items on what actually makes a KVI. A best-seller is not one as long as its price is compared nowhere.

Items in the category

Four ratings from 0 to 10, from weakest to strongest. Freq.: purchase frequency. Rec.: price recall. Comp.: comparability. Vis.: visibility. Sales: the item's rank in the category's sales ranking, 1 for the best seller. This rank does not enter the score: it serves only the final comparison. Use a point for decimals, e.g. 1.5.

What the grid measures on average

What this calculation does not say
      1. Price recall and visibility stay team judgements: they record what the organisation believes about the customer, not what the customer checks.
      2. Comparability is judged against the competitor panel entered only. A player missing from the panel shifts the list across every category it trades.
      3. Each item is scored in isolation, without its place in the range: an opening price point and its own-brand equivalent both surface when one reference point is enough.
      4. The selection carries no date: a new line bedding in or an item reaching end of life moves it well before an annual review comes round.
